How we know
'Named' counts meetings where our voice check put this member's name on their speech. It is not attendance: a member can attend and not speak, or speak in a stretch we couldn't name. More on how we count

What Latika Malkani said
I don't, I don't think they need to. I disagree on that. I don't think they need to be part of the study session. I think I would like some more data, like how many kids over this next school year at Miramonte High School arrive, you know, have a reason to be at school before 8:30, right?Latika MalkaniMayor · Orinda City Council · Jul 15, 2025Watch the full meeting from 1:50:35
Can I ask a follow-up to the— because it goes to the percentage. Are we seeing, or are you seeing trends trends of any other jurisdictions looking to amend their inclusionary ordinances, in particular the percentage or the pieces that— to be compliant with TOC policy?
Latika MalkaniMayor · Orinda City Council · Jul 15, 2025Watch the full meeting from 2:54:13I, I mean, if— hate to put you on the spot, Chief Rossi, but, but we are. And where I'm coming from on this is I recall previously hearing from our police chief that there really wasn't data to substantiate that there was necessarily additional crime based on this type of a, you know, uh, convenience store.
Latika MalkaniCouncilmember · Orinda City Council · Jan 13, 2026Watch the full meeting from 48:55Because you said you work with union and non-union subcontractors, right? On this project, are any of the subcontractors going to be union contractors?
Latika MalkaniMayor · Orinda City Council · Nov 18, 2025Watch the full meeting from 1:40:10I think, I think, I think if outside organizations like Orinda Community Foundation or Orinda Association or the Rotary Club or any of the wonderful organizations here, Garden Club, you know, would, would want to come together and work on a gala, that would be amazing. But I think it would necessitate Um, a couple of us leading.
Latika MalkaniMayor · Orinda City Council · Feb 18, 2025Watch the full meeting from 1:40:57I mean, we, we've I— to reframe, I think the question should be, do you want to move forward with an inclusionary ordinance or not? And if so, I'm just saying the 15%, like, my view is 15 rather than 10 because of the MTC TOC policy. That doesn't have to be everyone's view.
Latika MalkaniMayor · Orinda City Council · Jul 15, 2025Watch the full meeting from 3:30:17I mean, okay, I, I don't really understand the case-by-case basis, because the inclusionary housing ordinance, if we're gonna develop one, which I think we should, applies. But I think where we get more flexibility is by some of these choices we're asked to make within the ordinance, to the extent I understand it. Yes.
