How we know
'Named' counts meetings where our voice check put this member's name on their speech. It is not attendance: a member can attend and not speak, or speak in a stretch we couldn't name. More on how we count

What Kerry Hillis said
As part of our analysis of which of the trees may be causing conflict with the library foundation, are we also having a foundation assessment done to determine the overall damage? I've had— I had a 90-year-old redwood tree growing 10 feet away from my house, and it lifted the entire front end of it.Kerry HillisMayor · Moraga Town Council · Apr 8, 2026Watch the full meeting from 1:14:45
They also tend to fare best when you have lots of them nearby each other because they kind of hold each other up. The question that I would have, given the shallow roots, is something like a root barrier even something that could be considered without damaging the health of the tree?
Kerry HillisMayor · Moraga Town Council · Aug 26, 2026Watch the full meeting from 53:58Have we done a foundation inspection of this building? I'm assuming. That it is probably at least dating to the '60s, if not earlier.
Kerry HillisMayor · Moraga Town Council · Aug 26, 2026Watch the full meeting from 50:09As a town engineer and interim public works director, would several of these trees be recommended by you potentially to remove anyhow, absent this project, if a hazard tree report were to come back finding the trees to be a danger or risk?
Kerry HillisMayor · Moraga Town Council · Apr 8, 2026Watch the full meeting from 1:14:11I'll have more on this when I get to the comments. Um, another question on were we able to secure the deal for the alternative diesel for the diesel generators to ensure, uh, low, uh, carbon emission?
Kerry HillisMayor · Moraga Town Council · Apr 8, 2026Watch the full meeting from 1:16:59There's a potential for a negative outcome. But I would also say, based on my review of 2/3 of the state and what they do, the more affluent communities like Lafayette got a lot of mitigation. The less affluent communities like King City, they were able to get some, but not nearly as much as what some others were.
Kerry HillisMayor · Moraga Town Council · Apr 8, 2026Watch the full meeting from 1:35:41Well, I would just recommend too, as we wiggle the big toe of actually getting these generators here with this type of fuel in the future, we might also consider, um, transitioning some of our diesel-powered vehicles to this alternative diesel.
