How we know
'Named' counts meetings where our voice check put this member's name on their speech. It is not attendance: a member can attend and not speak, or speak in a stretch we couldn't name. More on how we count

What Gregory Mason said
The reason why I was asking is not for the general conditions, but specifically for parking. If somebody changed the parking requirements and it required more parking, if it's still under the original land use permit, then we're okay. If it— if that's expired, then that might be a problem.Gregory MasonCommissioner · Lafayette Planning Commission · Feb 18, 2025Watch the full meeting from 26:23
That's part and parcel to what I do. There's no geotechnical reason why you couldn't, uh, um, shift that, shift the driveway. I live just down the hill from that. The soil is lousy there, but it's on, um, It's on the ridge. It's going to have the 24-inch diameter caissons drilled into bedrock. You know, it's not going anywhere.
Gregory MasonCommissioner · Lafayette Planning Commission · Dec 2, 2024Watch the full meeting from 2:30:43I also think, well, since the ADU— state passed the ADU ordinance, to me it seems a little bit hypocritical when we're arguing about 5 feet into the setback when they can put an ADU 4 feet from the rear property line just administratively and nobody's going to do anything. So they're not— the state's not taking our setback seriously.
Gregory MasonCommissioner · Lafayette Planning Commission · Dec 2, 2024Watch the full meeting from 2:35:06We have had several projects that were either stalled, not constructed, where they use the density bonus to get the 4th story. One was just pretty much right across the street against the corner, and I felt sorry for the— felt sorry for the people across the creek because they're just looking at a 45-foot building. Wall.
Gregory MasonCommissioner · Lafayette Planning Commission · Dec 2, 2024Watch the full meeting from 59:41There's a lot in areas where you have, especially with oaks, a whole grouping of small oaks. 4, 6, 8 inches where the recommendation comes in for them to be healthy, you need to thin them out so they can grow that. So what is your feeling on that relative to everything we're doing here?
Gregory MasonCommissioner · Lafayette Planning Commission · Oct 21, 2024Watch the full meeting from 52:59I think that was tastefully done. One other thing I think was somewhat overlooked is we talked about demand, but demand is also tied very strongly to availability of construction financing. And for those of us on the commission, we've seen a lot of decent-sized projects just die.
Gregory MasonCommissioner · Lafayette Planning Commission · Oct 5, 2026Watch the full meeting from 1:00:02For the record, I have no problems with the house. I have no problems with your ability to build a house safely, structured on a hill. The only concern I had was the drainage, and you answered that. So thank you.
