How we know
'Named' counts meetings where our voice check put this member's name on their speech. It is not attendance: a member can attend and not speak, or speak in a stretch we couldn't name. More on how we count

What Jim Cervantes said
I think the issue isn't so much the trees. You limb them up, they're generally pretty safe. It's the stuff right around the building with the gorilla hair mulch, which is kindling, and juniper bushes or the like that just goes up like that.Jim CervantesCouncil Member · Lafayette City Council · Sep 28, 2026Watch the full meeting from 2:00:35
City wrote a letter. One of the items we highlighted was we really questioned their underlying demographic projections because their population projections drive everything. And I just wanted to highlight again, they didn't change those in this current version. MTC is assuming a 23%, 24% increase between population in the Bay Area between 2020 and 2050.

And one thing we're cognizant of here is fire safety. Now, if we're talking multifamily to downtown, we're not in a high fire severity zone there. I don't think it's a moderate even, but the norm has been or the evolution has been towards zone zero.
